DICE 2 Drug Information and Community Education
Through one to one interventions and group work this project will improve outcomes for young people aged 10-21 years who are affected by parental substance misuse and raise awareness of Hidden Harm in the community
Through tailored one to one support and group sessions young people in Mid Ulster dealing with mental health issues, involved with the criminal justice system and those at risk of exclusion from school will gain an improved ability to deal with challenges in their lives.
GEMS (Group Education and Motivation Support)
This programme is delivered for the Community Addiction Team of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust. GEMS is a 10 week rolling programme addressing addiction and related issues. Groups are facilitated in Newry and Dungannon with referrals made directly by the Community Addiction Team.
Further support is offered through the Recovery Road Group, a peer support group which meets weekly in Breakthru Wednesdays at 7pm.
Outreach and Detached Drugs and Alcohol Programme, Dungannon and Coalisland (Neighbourhood Renewal)
Working alongside the community to redress the impact of deprivation and close the inequality gap by providing learning and social opportunities which build community cohesion, encourage healthy choices and ensure children and young people thrive and reach their full potential.
Omagh Neighbourhood Renewal Health Programme
Delivering across the 5 Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Omagh; Campsie, Strathroy, Gallows Hill, CKS and MACCA, we work in partnership with the residents, community representatives, voluntary and statutory agencies to build community cohesion, healthy communities and ensure young people are given opportunities to thrive.
Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership – LINKS
The project works in partnership with pharmacists from Boots to develop a health programme encouraging vulnerable groups in our community to live healthier more fulfilling lives by enhancing their understanding of the determinants of ill health and by promoting positive health and wellbeing. This participant led programme uses a variety of tools to deliver health messages including talks, discussion and practical activities including gardening, cooking, art, alternative therapies and relaxation techniques.
Youth Gambling Programme
The need for a Gambling Intervention and Support Programme was established due to the extent of the problem and the fact that gambling is often hidden until a crisis is reached. Funding from Department for Communities to deliver this project within Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Coalisland and Dungannon under the Tackling Deprivation Health Actions was secured with additional funds from the PSNI and PCSP to extend the programme within the Mid Ulster Area.
Breakthru Counselling Service
Breakthru is committed to providing a quality service to anyone who asks for our help and support. There is increasing demand for our counselling service and without the dedication of our volunteer counsellors we would not be able to provide this service.
Youth Advisory Group
We are currently recruiting for our Youth Advisory Group and are seeking enthusiastic, motivated young people aged 14-23 years who will bring a range of experiences and put forward creative ideas for project development
Breakthru Second Chance…Last Chance
Working in partnership with the PSNI we deliver our Community Resolution Programme Second Chance Last Chance, a drug, alcohol and anti-social behaviour referral scheme as an alternative to prosecution. The scheme is appropriate for those who have little or no prior offending history and those for whom drugs or alcohol is a contributing factor in the incident.
“Good course, high in detail with real examples”
“The engagement and group discussion kept me focused and engaged”
Breakthru Outreach Centre
The Outreach Centre provides an alternative, safe, supportive environment for young people who are disengaged and involved in risk taking behaviours. We offer a combination of Drop in facility, diversionary activities, Life Skills/Personal Development Programmes, advice and signposting.
Volunteering with Breakthru
We are supported by a team of volunteers who offer a range of skills and support including; Advisory Forum, youth outreach, group work, counselling and fundraising. Each volunteer contributes the time available ranging from weekly to as and when required. We are indebted to all who volunteer and give so generously of their time and talents to support our work within the communities we serve.
Throughout the year we are able to offer short and longer term placements to students from different backgrounds progressing into different areas of work. All are given the opportunity to experience the many different aspects of our work.
Having an in depth knowledge we will signpost to the most appropriate services available.
