Volunteers

We are supported by a team of 12 volunteers who offer a range of skills and support including youth outreach, residentials, group work, counselling and fundraising. Each volunteer contributes the time available ranging from weekly to as and when required. As well as our regular volunteers many of our student placements go on to volunteer.

From one of our volunteers:

"I have been volunteering at Breakthru for three years. In this time, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the professionals and the service users therein. For me the role of a volunteer has been very satisfying. I have been afforded the opportunity to develop my knowledge and awareness of the impact of drugs and alcohol on communities and the need for education, support and guidance in this area. I have worked with groups of young people and also assisted with residential programmes. The thing I found most satisfying was developing supportive relationships with the aim of reducing isolation and educating vulnerable service users. It was clear to see the benefit in my role as a volunteer that Breakthru has for people of all ages that are engaging with the service. This in itself for me was very rewarding. "
